Rainbow Foods in Juneau is exactly the kind of independent health food store that I wish we had more of. The first thing that makes it memorable is the building itself: it’s housed in an old converted church, with high ceilings and a big, open interior that gives the whole place a ton of character. It feels completely different from walking into a modern corporate grocery store. There’s also a surprisingly huge selection packed inside. Whether you’re looking for natural foods, specialty ingredients, bulk items, snacks, supplements, or just poking around to see what you discover, there’s plenty to explore. There’s even a little nook where you can sit and hang out for a while, which adds to the community feel of the place. The staff were exceptionally friendly, cheerful, and welcoming during my visit. Nothing about the store feels overly polished or corporate—it feels like a real neighborhood institution run by actual humans who are happy you walked through the door. Parking can be a little limited, but this is downtown Juneau, so that comes with the territory. Once you’re inside, though, the building, selection, and atmosphere make it well worth a visit. It's very convenient having Rainbow Foods nearby N. Douglas, my neighborhood. They usually have what I need and good quality.

A wonderful compact store which has local produce, wellness, as well as the regular grocery offerings. What a particularly liked was a small play area for kids.

Wonderful community grocery store! Delicious homemade food in the salad bar. Also, the store is stocked full of organic and natural foods! Appears to be on top of a church, which threw us for a loop, but it was worth the trip! The homemade broccoli soup was stellar!
